Entrants must be residents of Western Australia. Prize money, donated by the community, totals $8850. A new Award of $1000, was first included in 2001. In 2008 two such Awards, one in the Art section and one in the Craft section, will be made for the best entries in any category depicting "Celebration".

The Art & Craft Awards will be held in 2008, October 4-12.

Entries will close on 8 September, 2008.

In October or November of each year the Society holds the annual Art and Craft Awards which originated with the Craft Awards in the York Fair in 1973. When the Fair ceased in 1984, the Craft Awards continued and in 1989 Art was included. The Awards hold an important place in the Western Australian Art & Craft scene and now attract around 500 entries each year from some 180 artists and craftspersons.

Awards of $500.00 are made in the above categories.

In addition, $500.00 Awards are offered for the best Avon Valley entries in each of Art and Craft.
Residents of the Shires of Toodyay, Northam, Beverley and York are eligible for this Award.

An Award of $250.00 is also made for the best entry from a Young Achiever -
young people between the ages of 13-21 are encouraged to enter.
